Foster Support Group

Still no update from P127, they have my paperwork and was hoping to hear from them last week and the week before with an update, but nothing yet.  Once they go through it all, then I can pass onto my CPA and that is when the ball will roll faster towards certification I believe.  The most popular question I get is, "when will you have a child in your home".  One of the things that they trained us on, is to have consistency and stability for the first while that the child is in the home.  At the rate things are moving along, I may not be fully certified until sometime in May but then I have a trip at the end of June, back to Montana for my 20 year reunion.  Although it would be great to take a child up there (I know there are many of you reading this now that I will see up there and would love to meet her)...here is the reality of it.  This child is coming into my home, more than likely traumatized or whatever her situation is.  She doesn't know me, my...

A Wrinkle In Time

So Sara and I went to see A Wrinkle In Time yesterday...just another way to enjoy my quiet life while I can lol, and the message was so awesome.  I encourage anyone that wants a clear message about Love, Light and Energy to go see it.  It was so clear that there is an "IT" in our world..call it satan, ego, shit storm..whatever, but in the movie its called the IT, and that is the negative crap that seeps into our minds and lives.  WE do have the power to overcome that and continue to stay in the light and love.  Love above all else heals and is the frequency we should all be living on.  At one point in the movie (I am not going to say much and give anything away) I thought about myself, the journey I have been on, the growth I have accomplished, the awareness I have come to and the Love I am able to give abundantly.  I trust that I am able to love these broken foster kids enough to help them heal or at least start them down the path of healing and plant the...

As I wait

I met with my case manager from Project 127 the other day, mostly to just visit.  She is a single foster Mom so I wanted to hear her story, though I am not at liberty to discuss it I will say that the ride I (we) are about to embark on will be tough and glorious all in one.  I also gave her all my paperwork to hand off to Bethany Christian Services, so now I wait... Waiting to see if anything is missing from the packet of paperwork and waiting to hear when my home study will start.  I had originally connected with a lady from Bethany the night of training and I know she will be 1 of 2 or 3 people that I will get to know through the process and throughout the journey (as long as they work there).  I am looking forward to getting to know them better through the process.  That's really all I have for today, I will update once I have more information.

Support Team

Wow!  I am beyond blessed!  I had been looking forward to Support Team training since this journey started.  I wanted those that could attend, see what it is that I was learning.  These are not ordinary kids and we are to not treat them as ordinary kids.  We are not to walk up and freely give them hugs or affection, we must ask first.  We do not discipline foster kids like ordinary kids (well I guess that depends on your current parenting).  The way to approach foster kids is with pure, 100% love and attention.  You must first connect with the child, then empower, then correct.  Where I think it is so normal to have those three reversed, first yell at the kid to stop them from doing what they are doing, then talk to them about what they are doing wrong.  I feel that I have an advantage since I don't have any parenting skills that I need to pay attention to and potentially tweak.  So the child and I will learn together.  Satur...
