Comfort to Chaos

WOW!  I had no idea what to expect from training this last weekend.  This was the extra 12 hours that is not state required but I would HIGHLY recommend it if ever going down this path.  This is Project 127 specific and focuses on Love (Gods love for us and how we are called to love others), Attachment (how to specifically parent to foster and adopted children) and Faith (our faith in Gods plan).  This extra training is paramount, in my opinion.  Especially as a single woman with no children.   Friday started with foster agencies (CPAs) coming in as a trade show style meeting.  We got the opportunity to talk to them, ask questions and ulitimately learn a little bit more about the process.  That was really great to meet a handful of them and learn what the different organizations offer.  Some only cater to foster specifically, some foster to adopt and also the counties specifically which focus on fostering.  I do feel led towards a ...

More information for the process

Just to give you an idea of what the process is like... You start off doing all your research and feel overwhelmed tying to figure out where to start.  Then the fun begins.  The program that I am going through, Project 127, is ministry based so there is extra training involved, which is a good thing!  Start off with the 12 hours of training which is state mandated, 2 weeks later (which is this weekend) another 12 hours this time will be faith based training (I will write more about what that consisted of once I get through it and can process it).  2 weeks after that there is a 4 hour support training.  That is where everyone that is a part of my support system (those that are able to) comes together to learn about the process and what I am doing. Along with the physical training there is a lot of paperwork to do: state application, questionaires, need to get a medical physical, do a CPR class, get fingerprints, additional required online class (1 that I know...

How it started

I am blogging in hopes to connect with other foster parents, especially the single ones taking this on.  I am brand new to the community...as in, just going through training now.  Also to keep my friends and family in the loop in one convenient spot. Let me back up a year to tell a little about how this journey started.  I can't remember exactly what the date was but it was around January 2017 when the initial though of, mentoring a child came to mind.  I never thought it would turn into a foster journey. I knew God has placed something on my heart and it was to mentor a young girl that was Motherless, that needed a grown woman in her life.  I put the thought out there and figured I would let God and the universe guide me. Months had gone by and the thought vanished from  my immediate brain but came back again around spring time and the thought turned into...oh I will seek single Dads that have a daughter, where the Mother is not present in her life....
