Inspection..completed, passed!

WOW!  What a journey this has been!  I started so long ago with my eyes half opened.  Months and months later I feel like I have grown so much on a soul level, so much that I could not have even imagined.  I am completely humbled and grateful for all that I have learned about myself and others along the way.  Things I have learned about ways I should be parenting these foster kids.  Things that I can only hope and pray I can hold onto and do well at.  Parenting skills that truly make sense to me and really set us up for HOPEFULLY gaining a solid foundation of trust for the kids.

Friday was the 2nd to last appointment to complete and I passed with flying colors!  I had spent hours mentally and emotionally preparing for it and then a lot of physical work as well.  It literally was nothing like I had thought.  I assumed she would comb through the house, top to bottom. But really she sat down for more questions then she wanted a tour.  It went great!  July 3rd I go back down to Bethany to review the report she has written up about me and my home then it's official, I will be a certified/licensed foster Mom!  Woah!!!!!  I can hardly believe it.  The emotions I have felt in the last 48 hours have been something I haven't even considered.

Saturday we went in for advanced TBRI (Trust Based Relational Intervention) training.  It is an attachment based, trauma informed intervention that is designed to meet the needs of vulnerable children. They focus on Empowering principles for different attachment styles/needs, Connecting principles for attachment needs and Correcting principles to disarm fear based behavior.  Amazing education and I look forward to more training.  I of course took a lot out of it personally and things to pay attention to and change within me so that I may empower little kiddos.  Do I think it will be easy, no...Do I know it will be possible, yes.  There really seems to be no other way to parent kids, especially foster kids, in my opinion of course.  Easier said that done maybe..I will soon find out!

July is a busy month so the soonest I will get a call will be August!  I changed the age from 3-6 up to 8..to help get a call quicker.  I will of course update, so please do stay tuned and continue to pray for the journey!

  1. Awesome! After a child is placed in your care, is there mandatory (or voluntary) counseling or classes you both have to or can continue to attend?

    1. Hey sorry I just saw this! Are you meaning the child and I or Silas and I? There will be voluntary training he and I can go to and I absolutely plan to attend. There is a monthly support group that I have been going to and Bethany Christian Services will have some requirements as to online support group attendance as well. :)
